Middle and High School Edition: It's More Than Just Maps! Using Geography to Create Critical Thinkers! Featuring national social studies speaker, Glenn Wiebe from ESSDACK!
o We all love a good map. But geography can and should be more than colored pencils, memorizing state capitals, and listing different regions of the United States. We need to be using a variety of tools to help students think critically and use evidence to make claims. Join national social studies speaker, Glenn Wiebe in this DOE sponsored webinar where you will learn about these tools and how they can fit into your classroom. During this fast-paced two-hour session, we’ll explore geography resources, tools, and strategies that will engage kids in solving problems and acquiring foundational content. Nat Geo Map Maker, Google Earth, geo-based political cartoons, integrating datasets into Street Views, and StoryMaps are just a few of the tools we’ll load into your checkout cart before you leave. Each session will focus on grade level activities specifically designed to help you immediately integrate geography skills and content into your instruction. CEUs will be offered for participating in this hands-on, fast-paced webinar. The resources offered in this webinar are geared toward the needs of middle and high school students.
